Study trip: Lessons of the Weimar Republic for today Sub-title: A visit to the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin
A visit to the German Historical Museum/ Deutsches Historisches Museum (DHM) and its special exhibition “Weimar: The Essence and Value of Democracy” – In light of the challenges democratic regimes face around the world today it is worth remembering earlier periods of history in which democratic regimes have also faced challenges. To gain greater insight on both the past & present, we will visit the German Historical Museum for a guided tour of the part of the permanent collection focused on the years 1918-1945. Later, we will visit the special exhibition Weimar: The Essence and Value of Democracy/Weimar: Vom Wesen und Wert der Demokratie . Time / Course location:
At least 10 students must sign up for this project to take place.
Requirements: an interest in history, English B1+/B2 (students should demonstrate this by writing me a short email in English in one or two sentences why they wish to participate).
Dates remain to be confirmed & so are subject to change.
I will announce a short orientation meeting (20 to 30 minutes) per email in late May/ early June to confirm details.
